Job Description
The Université de Sherbrooke invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in Ecology in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record, teaching experience and evidence of ability to conduct original research. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research examines the interactions among different organisms and their effects on ecosystems. One position will be in plant ecology and one in animal ecology. Candidates seeking to develop long-term research that includes field work are encouraged to apply. The selected candidates will contribute to the CRÉUS, the UdeS Research Center in Ecology. Principal tasks Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels. Develop fundamental and applied research activities. Supervise graduate students.  Participate in university life. Contribute to community service. Qualifications PhD or equivalent and relevant postdoctoral experience in ecology or related field in biology as demonstrated by a strong record of publications. Ability to conduct an independent and externally-funded research program. Strong interest and ability in teaching graduate and undergraduate students, research, and innovation. Ability to supervise and mentor graduate students. Have an excellent record of publications peer-reviewed at the international level. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships, collaboration and teamwork skills. Demonstrated leadership and initiative in communication and interaction with internal and external collaborators. Be able to abide to the requirements in line with the responsible behavior of research. Professors at the Université de Sherbrooke are expected to be able to teach in French, or to rapidly attain the ability to do so. An institutional learning support program is offered to all new faculty wishing to learn French. Work conditions The working conditions are governed by the collective agreements in force. Regular full-time tenure-track position. Anticipated start date: January 2025.
