Abstract:The discovery that the transducing G protein of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae mating pheromone response figures centrally in signal adaptation was the focus of considerable excitement in the past year. Not only does activated G alpha in this system stimulate an adaptive signal but G beta undergoes a desensitizing phosphorylation in response to pheromone signaling
