Abstract:A gas chromatographic head-space technique has been developed for the analysis of volatile organic compounds produced by fungi. The method described is useful for establishing the pattern of volatile compounds emitted by an organism and for following the time course of production of volatile metabolites. Many of these volatile products are physiologically active and influence the growth and development of the same or other organisms
